Five cities of Assam Ranked Among Cleanest Cities of Northeast India

GUWAHATI: The Swachh Survekshan 2020, conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair, has declared Jorhat as the "cleanest city" in the northeast zone.

"We congratulate Jorhat from Assam for being awarded 1st place in the “Cleanest City (Population between 50,000-1,00,000) North-East Zone” category," tweeted Swacch Bharat Urban.


Apart from Jorhat, four more cities of Assam have secured positions on the list of cleanest cities this year. They are Tezpur, Diphu, Sivasagar, and Karimganj.

Indore in Madhya Pradesh retained its position as the cleanest city in India for the fourth consecutive year, according to the Swachh Survekshan 2020 survey results.


Surat ranked second and Navi Mumbai bagged the third position.
