The Japi, adorned with fresh flowers, stood as a symbol of Assam’s craft traditions while offering a visual marker of unity across regional cultures.
Ahead of the opening, the temple complex was decorated with 13 quintals of fresh flowers in preparation for the arrival of the idol on Thursday. The temple officially opened to devotees at 7 AM on Friday. Helicopter services from Sonprayag have also resumed to ease access for pilgrims making the journey to the high-altitude shrine.
The opening of Kedarnath Temple marks the start of the annual Char Dham Yatra, which includes visits to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. This pilgrimage draws lakhs of devotees each year, initiating a season of religious movement across Uttarakhand's Himalayan terrain.
