First vehicle pollution testing centre in NE set up at Hatigaon petrol pump

GUWAHATI: "Messrs Padma and Sons", a dealer of Bharat Petroluem at Hatigaon, Guwahati became the first oil depot in North-East to set up a vehicle pollution testing centre. 

The centre was formally inaugurated on Thursday, in presence of officials from BPCL, state transport department and the district administration.

With the increase in the number of vehicles, pollution levels have also increased in cities. Taking a strong concern, the Supreme Court of India in its order, had made it mandatory to set up vehicle pollution testing centres at all the petrol and diesel depots.
