GUWAHATI: Campaigning for the first phase of Lok Sabha polls to be held in Assam will come to an end today at 5 PM. Five Lok Sabha constituencies -- Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kaliabor, Tezpur and Lakhimpur -- will go to polls on 11th April.
A total of 41 candidates are in the fray for the five Lok Sabha seats. Tezpur and Kaliabor have 14 candidates (seven each) in fray whereas there are eight candidates in Dibrugarh and eight in Jorhat. Lakhimpur has 11 candidates contesting from various parties.

Even the incessant rains did not deter intense campaigning followed by political mud-slinging in these constituencies. Star campaigners like Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath and Nagma campaigned for the candidates in the first phase. State level leaders like Tarun Gogoi, CM Sarbananda Sonowal, Himanta Biswa Sarma and others took part in the first phase campaigning.
