Supreme Court, after much discussion, gave a verdict of putting a ban on the sale of firecrackers before Diwali celebrations. Post this decision, the Mizoram government being first on the list, announced the ban on the same for Christmas and New Year celebrations as well.
Ban on import of firecrackers
The Mizoram Government on Friday announced that the state will observe a ban on the sale and burning of the firecrackers during the celebrations of the birth of Christ and on New Year’s Eve. The Mizoram Government has decided to ban crackers and other pyrotechnic materials, including toy guns that can propel pellets after the Supreme Court has banned the sale before Diwali.
