Festival to celebrate the glory of river Brahmaputra

The glory of river Brahmaputra, the lifeline of Assam is indomitable. To celebrate this spirit of the mighty river, a mega cultural tourism festival will be celebrated, as an effort to boost one of the prime factors of Assam Tourism. The festival will be organized by the state government, and will cover the entire stretch of the river spread across the state, from Sadiya to Dhubri. The proposed five day festival has been scheduled by March 2017. Transport minister and inland water transport department officials on Monday briefed chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal about the plan of the festival. The festival is expected to give a boost to the socio economic and tourism sector of the state, and also foster inter community harmony. Sonowal, while commenting upon the proposed plan said, “The mighty river Brahmaputra is a part of our rich civilization, and we need to focus on taking it ahead as a global world heritage. The riverine people used to have an emotional bonding with the Brahmaputra, which has gradually been weakening. This festival should create an environment for reconnecting the people with their roots and rejuvenate the Brahmaputra civilization.”   Stay updated on the go with GPlus News.
