In what could be termed as a very inhuman act, it has come to light that a father, identified as Jaharuddin of Bhootnath, Guwahati has sold his 5 years old daughter to a group of human traffickers from Arunachal Pradesh.
The father reportedly sold his daughter for an amount of Rs 50,000 nearly a month ago, and was absconding since then.
Allegedly, he had also planned to sell his wife to the same group of traffickers.
On the basis of an FIR lodged by his wife, Bharalu Police on Wednesday night arrested Jaharuddin from Maligaon. According to sources, the accused has also been associated with human trafficking earlier.
