Chaos Erupts In Guwahati Pandal During Durga Puja On October 13

GUWAHATI: A family running a food stall in Guwahati’s Bishnupur area was brutally assaulted by a group of five men on the night of Monday, October 14. The incident has left all three family members injured.

The food stall owner, who operates the fast-food stall with his wife and their son was attacked by the gang, leaving him and his family members injured in the process. The victim also alleged that the perpetrators attempted to sexually assault his wife during the chaos. 

The family has lodged a formal complaint with the Bharalumukh Police Station.

However, speaking to G Plus, an official from the Bharalumukh Police said that the altercation was a “two-way affair.” “The food stall owner and his family got into an argument with a group of customers,” he revealed. “This argument led to further chaos, where both sides attacked each other.”

No action has been taken against the accused so far, as the food stall owner and his family have reportedly expressed their frustration against the leniency of the police.

UPDATE: The Latter Files FIR

In a recent development, the five men and their associates have filed an FIR against the food stall owner and his family member at the same police station.

Filed by Sunflower Club, this FIR states that the food stall owner and his brethren were responsible for the damage and destruction of several club property related to the Durga Puja festivities.

They have also been allegedly held responsible for the alleged mistreatment of visitors.

Speaking to G Plus, one of the individuals involved in the incident said, "The media has shared only one side of the story. We wanted to make ourselves clear; the food stall owner was responsible for destroying club property."

The incident had taken place on Sunday, where chaos had erupted between both parties after the intrusion of several teenage boys who had arrived to vandalise the event.
