Fake Currency Worth Above ₹5.55 Lakh Seized In Guwahati, 2 Arrested

 

GUWAHATI: Two men were arrested on the outskirts of Guwahati on Saturday, May 25 with a consignment of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth ₹5,55,500 lakhs.


Acting on source information, a team of STF intercepted a vehicle B/R No AS01QC6533 at Gota Nagar near Radisson Blue Hotel under Jalukbari PS jurisdiction.

During the operation, the STF detained a four-wheeler and upon searching the car, they seized FICN worth ₹5,55,500 lakhs comprising of 500- rupee denomination. 


Taking to X, the official account of STF Assam said that, “A bundle of white papers cut to the size of 500-rupee notes was used to cheat, with counterfeit currency notes placed on the top and bottom of the bundle.”


The accused have been identified as Md. Rofikul Islam and Sirajul Alom. They have been arrested and further details are awaited.
