GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet approved measures to expand the social security net for tea garden employees on October 27.

The Cabinet's decision aims to remove the ambiguity and inconsistencies regarding the classes of employees entitled to join the Assam Tea Plantations Provident Fund and Pension Fund Scheme, 1968.
The approved amendments of Para 22 and 29 will allow Provident Fund (P.F) deductions for employees earning more than ₹15,000.
As a result, all employees will be entitled to the benefits of the Provident Fund, regardless of their salary bracket.
