GUWAHATI: Former women militants in Udalguri are undergoing training to manufacture sanitary pads under the initiative of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration, as per reports on December 18.

The BTR is focussing on the rehabilitation of former militants by identifying their areas of interest and providing training and employment opportunities. The program, which has been named 'Fin Rwdwmkhang' (Mission Blossom Again), aims to establish 30 cooperatives, with 21 already formed.

Among the cooperatives, an all-women group in Udalguri is set to produce sanitary pads, with production expected to commence in a couple of months. The BTR administration is committed to peace-building efforts, and the initiative includes various cooperatives, such as rice mills, dairy processing units, and stevia processing units, promoting economic sustainability for the former militants. The products will be sold under the brand 'Rwdwm' (bud). The BTR Chief Executive Member, Pramod Boro, talked about the importance of restoring peace, harmony, and resolving differences among different communities in the region. The BTR administration is actively working to address misunderstandings and involve local communities in fostering unity and understanding.
