GUWAHATI: In a concerning incident that highlights the prevailing safety concerns, even women police personnel are not immune to harassment.
On the night of Independence Day, a disturbing incident unfolded in Guwahati as a Rapido driver allegedly engaged in obscene behaviour and eve-teasing towards a female police constable.
Speaking to G Plus, an official from Latasil Police Station confirmed that the distressing incident occurred around 10:30 PM when the woman constable, who serves at the Paltan Bazar Police Station, was returning home after her duty.
As she was passing through the Dighalipukhuri area, the accused Rapido driver reportedly subjected her to inappropriate remarks and lewd gestures.
The accused has been apprehended and has now been sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway.
