With Eid fervour gripping the city, morning hours in Guwahati today witnessed a deserted look.  Commute and travel time in the city was reduced to mere minutes. Most business establishments, offices and educational institutions in the city are closed today.

“As we celebrate Eid, we realize that Guwahati is more about good food, celebrations and recreation. We take this holiday a blessing and are utilizing this fully,” said Abid Islam to G Plus.

The low traffic movement in the city has encouraged people to step out of their homes and frolic about.

"Yes, we are enjoying this holiday adding to which we have Eid invitations at several places in the city. Maybe we’ll go out for some shopping considering that the city is less crowded and parking would be easier today," said Rita Devi.

“My family and I are going out for a movie and a late lunch today. Later in the evening when the traffic comes back to play we would be at home relaxing," says Kanika Sarma, a resident of Christian Basti.

The soaring temperature in the city has fatigued Guwahatians and the early morning shower has brought much needed respite and relief for the residents.
