GUWAHATI: The Guwahati police on Monday, November 8, arrested two persons for selling fake 20 litre mineral water jars with the seal of a reputed brand in the Noonmati area of the city.
One Jakir Hussain, a delivery agent, was arrested by the Noonmati police in connection to this matter, who later revealed that the fake stocks were manufactured by Md. Abdul Karim at Salbari in a local factory.
The modus operandi included filling the water jars with local water and adding a fake seal of a reputed mineral water brand to distribute the jar at a higher rate among the customers.
"We are looking into the matter further to track any such ill-practices as it is the question of health and hygiene," a senior official from the Noonmati police told G Plus.
