GUWAHATI: A dry day has been declared in Kamrup Metro from May 5 to 7 in connection with second phase of panchayat elections in Assam, and on May 11 due to the counting of votes.

The order was issued by the Kamrup Metro District Commissioner on May 2 and it will come into force from 4:30 PM on May 5 and remain in effect till 4:30 PM of May 7.
"During this period all Wholesale/Bonded Warehouse, IMFL Retail "OFF" and "ON" shop including Club "ON", Hotel "ON", Microbrewery, Composite, Country Spirits Shop, etc will remain dosed. Any violation of the above will attract penal action as per law," the District Commissioner's order stated.
