Kamrup (metro) Deputy Commissioner M. Angamuthu on Monday said that the part draft of the updated National Register of Citizens (NRC), scheduled to be published on December 31, will be available online and in 78 NRC seva kendras of the district.
People will be able to check their names on the draft through these four websites:
www.homeandpolitical.assam.gov.in
According to NRC officials, the Draft NRC will be published on the midnight of December 31, 2017, for those applicants for whom the entire process of verification is completed by that date. This will be a part publication of the Draft NRC.
Following this, another Draft NRC will be published after the completion of the verification of the rest of the applicants, which shall be the complete publication of Draft NRC. The date for this draft would be notified separately.
It has been said that the applicants who do not find their names in the part publication of Draft NRC should not worry as their verifications may be in progress.
It may also be possible that the names of the entire family members may not be mentioned in the part publication. The decision on such families will be completed on the final draft.
The NRC authorities further added that the claims and objections should be filed only after complete publication of the Draft NRC. The Final NRC will be published after the disposal of all the claims and objections.
Applicants can also appeal before the Foreigners Tribunals after the publication of Final NRC.
