GUWAHATI: After taking the oath of office, President Trump delivered his inaugural address, outlining his administration's priorities for the next four years. A major focus of his speech was a declaration of a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, aimed at addressing illegal immigration. Trump also announced plans to invoke the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, a law last used during World War II, to target foreign gang members residing in the U.S.

In addition to his address, President Trump signed several executive orders immediately following his inauguration. These actions included the U.S. withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, a freeze on non-essential federal hiring, and the United States' exit from the World Health Organization.

Furthermore, President Trump issued pardons for 1,500 individuals involved in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot and extended the operating period for the short-form video app TikTok in the U.S. for an additional 75 days, temporarily lifting a previously imposed ban.

Donald J. Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20, 2025, during an indoor ceremony at the U.S. Capitol, prompted by extreme cold weather conditions. This marks Trump’s second term in office, following his previous presidency from 2017 to 2021.
