Doctor Stitches Back Pregnant Woman In Assam’s Karimganj As Baby Was Premature

GUWAHATI: A horrible incident has been reported from the Karimganj District of Assam on Wednesday, August 31, where a doctor has been accused of performing an early Caesarean Section (C-Section) on a woman. After the cut was made in the operation theatre the doctor realised that the baby was premature and so he stitched the woman back and kept her in the hospital for 11 days, say news reports.

The C-Section was performed by Dr AK Biswas and the woman, Navy Namashudhra, was discharged from the Karimganj Civil Hospital on Wednesday. Reports say that the delivery date of the woman was scheduled for December 9.

On learning about the decision to discharge her in that condition, people gathered and protested inside the hospital. The Karimganj Police were informed to bring the situation under control.

The Officer-in-Charge of Karimganj Police Station told G Plus, “We arrived at the hospital and a settlement took place between both the parties - the doctor and the woman. No case has been registered.”
