GUWAHATI: The ongoing construction work of dividers along the Guwahati-Shillong Road during daytime has been causing long traffic snarls over the past few days. The construction activities have also created difficulty for pedestrians.
Much to the woes of the motorists and pedestrians alike, the construction work has given rise to regular traffic congestion.
The construction work of the road dividers is being carried out by the PWD (Public Works Department).
The condition of the roads is especially troublesome during the rush hour when the traffic is heavy on the roads.
“Since the divider construction work has begun, all the major areas of the city including Khanapara, Sixmile, Ulubari remain constantly busy and face traffic jams. It now takes me almost double the amount of time to reach my office now,” said Chandan Das, a city resident.
