GUWAHATI: In view of the forthcoming Diwali festivities, the Chief Secretary has requested all the District Commissioners to take the necessary steps to prevent any fire mishaps and outbreaks during the festival, as of a notification on November 6.
The notification also directs the DCs to submit information on the number of fire incidents in the district during the last three years from two days prior to Diwali, during Diwali, and one day after Diwali.
The directive also states to submit the data on the number of persons who died as a result of firecrackers in the district during the last three years from two days prior to Diwali, during Diwali, and one day after Diwali.
The directive also states to submit information on the number of road accidents during Diwali for the same.
Additionally, the DCs have been asked to submit a contingency plan for safe Diwali celebrations in their respective districts. All the information has been requested on or before November 8.
