Devajit Saikia Appointed BCCI Secretary, Replaces Jay Shah

GUWAHATI: Former Assam cricketer and joint secretary of BCCI Devajit Saikia has been named the new Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), taking over from Jay Shah, who vacated the position following his election as Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Saikia’s appointment fills the role after it had been vacant for over a month.

The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) expressed immense pride in Saikia’s achievement, calling it a historic moment for Assam’s cricketing community. Through a post on their official ‘X’ handle, the ACA congratulated Saikia, stating, “Assam Cricket Association extends its warmest congratulations to Mr Devajit Saikia on his election as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). We take great pride in this accomplishment and are confident that Mr. Saikia’s leadership will further enrich Indian cricket's legacy, inspiring countless individuals across the nation. We wish him all the best in this new chapter of leadership and excellence.”

Previously, Saikia had temporarily stepped in as interim Secretary of the BCCI. This followed Jay Shah's transition to the ICC Chairman role.
