Delhi Schools To Be Closed Till November 5 As Air Quality Worsens

GUWAHATI: In the wake of rising pollution in the national capital, New Delhi, all the schools of the city will remain closed till November 05.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a tweet said that the schools have been shut due to the increase of smoke coming from the burning of stubble.

Meanwhile, CM Kejriwal hit out the neighbouring states for the degrading air quality of the city.
“Delhi has turned into a gas chamber due to smoke from crop burning in neighbouring states. It is very imp that we protect ourselves from this toxic air. Through private and government schools, we have started distributing 50 lakh masks today. I urge all Delhiites to use them whenever needed”, he tweeted.

All the 37 air quality monitoring stations across Delhi today morning recorded the air quality in the severe category. Bawana was the most-polluted area with an AQI of 497, followed by Delhi Technological University (487), Wazirpur (485), Anand Vihar (484) and Vivek Vihar (482).
