GUWAHATI: Ahead of the Assam Legislative Assembly, senior Congress leader Debabrata Saikia has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition. Debabrata Saikia is an MLA from the Nazira constituency.

In a statement shared with G Plus, Debabrata Saikia stated to cooperate with the current government and oppose whenever it is required.
"People have given us the chance to sit in the opposition and we have to cooperate with the current government and oppose any anti-people decision," said Saikia.
Congress will be the largest opposition party with 29 MLAs. Debabrata Saikia is set to become the Leader of Opposition (LoP) for the second consecutive time.
