DC advises Chath Puja committees to complete rituals within 7 PM

To ensure smooth celebration of the upcoming Chath Puja in and around the city, Dr M Angamuthu, DC, Kamrup (M) has issued an advisory on Tuesday.
The DC during a meeting held at the Circuit House discussed issues like security, lighting, vehicular communication, drinking water, arrangement for lavatory, cultural programmes etc, at locations such as Kasomari Ghat, Betkuchi, Pandu Ghat, Basistha, and Nonnmati Sec I.

 

He asked the puja committees to complete the religious rituals by 6:30-7 PM. He also asked them to adopt all precautionary measures so as to avoid accidents.

 

The DC prohibited sailing of all private boats in the river from 1 PM, and asked APDCL to ensure uninterrupted supply of power to the venues. He also asked the puja committees to clean the river banks after the puja. 

 

Additional Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Bora asked the puja committees to seek permission for gates they were going to erect and not to burst crackers producing loud sound. He said that a stretch of the MG Road would remain closed for vehicular traffic on that day.
