GUWAHATI: In an effort to enhance policing and ensure the safety and security of people from the North East region, as well as Gorkhas from Darjeeling and Ladakh residing in various locations of Delhi, the Special Police Unit for North East Region (SPUNER) has called upon them to provide their information. The Joint Commissioner of Police, Special Police Unit for North East Region, New Delhi, PN Khrimey, IPS, issued a circular emphasising the significance of maintaining specific data for this demographic.

Despite the considerable population of northeastern people in the national capital, no agency or organisation has been keeping comprehensive records. In response to this gap, SPUNER has taken the initiative to collect pertinent data for the purpose of better policing and ensuring the safety and security of these communities.

IPS Officer PN Khrimey urged the residents to register by filling out a Google form, which can be accessed through the link: https://forms.gle/1jNane55eWJBcd339. This form will enlist their names and other relevant details, enabling the authorities to establish a comprehensive and accurate database.

The Google form link has been disseminated through social media platforms and shared with community and student leaders representing North East people, as well as Gorkhas of Darjeeling, and Ladakh.
