In a few places, the bandh was seen to be observed strictly whereas in some places minimal public transport movement was reported.

Security forces were keeping vigil at railway stations, roads and other important places to ensure the nationwide shutdown remained peaceful.

Shopkeepers faced difficulties amidst the Bharat Bandh in Guwahati. The 12-hour Bandh actually was a bane to many people like shopkeepers and vendors.

"There has been sale of a mere Rs 30 till 2 pm; after the lockdown, it is very disheartening to earn just this much in half a day" said a shopkeeper to G Plus.

Roadside vendors, hawkers, rickshaw pullers and auto drivers who rely on their daily earnings were disheartened by the Bandh being observed. "We are just poor daily wage earners. I don't know how I will manage today," complained a rickshaw puller in the Chandmari area.

Half of the city was seen deserted during the 12-hour Bandh. "My kid wanted to have chicken today, but I didn't earn enough to buy chicken and even after 5 pm there wouldn't be much saved," sighed a roadside vendor sharing his grief.
