Guwahati: The Assam state Disaster management authority as well as local Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) as all are constantly monitoring the eye of cyclone fani which is now near Kolkata but gradually weakening.
As per reports, Assam may escape the severity of the Cyclone Fani as it is gradually getting weaker and only the westernmost tip of Assam- Goalpara, Dhubri and Kokrajhar district may get very heavy rain while remaining part of lower and central Assam will remain under deep depression but it is unlikely to cause any major damage unless flood water create other issues.

Meanwhile the first flight departure has been scheduled at 9.45 AM — a Bagdogra bound Air India flight. The first flight to arrive Kolkata airport would be a Go Air flight from Delhi that is scheduled to land at the airport at 10.20 AM. Boarding for the 9.45 AM flight is underway.
