GUWAHATI: High winds from Cyclone Fani blew away 20 tents at a camp in Mount Everest. As per reports, the fallout of the cyclone penetrated more than 900 kilometres in  the Himalayan range on 4 May.

The Nepal government has issued a warning and has asked trekking agencies to ensure safety of tourists in the area.

"We have received reports of some tents being damaged in the strong wind, but all the climbers and their support staff are safe and have been asked to suspend all theirs plans until weather improves," said Mira Acharya, Director of Hotel and Mountaineering section, Department of Tourism.

Citing bad weather, the National Emergency Operation Centre has asked tour operators to suspend all helicopter and flights until weather conditions improve.
