Telephone towers, power lines, thatched huts and buildings with weak foundations are likely to be damaged and hoardings could become flying projectiles, as per warnings issued by the meteorological department yesterday.

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, further appealed to the citizens requesting them not to venture out till the storm moves away as it is the tail of the cyclone that causes maximum destruction.

Teams of National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Border Security Force (BSF) have been deployed at various districts across both states to minimize the damage that could be caused by the cyclone.
