GUWAHATI: With 2,796 more persons testing positive for COVID-19 on August 13, Assam's total tally has reached 71,795.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ 2796 COVID cases detected out of 61318 tests in last 24 hrs. Positivity rate - 4.55%. Kamrup (M)- 418, Cachar- 307, Kamrup (R)- 248, Dibrugarh- 207"

Further, with 2,174 persons being discharged from different hospitals and COVID care centres in the state, Assam now stands with 22,240 active cases as on August 13.
So far, 49,383 persons have recovered from the viral disease in Assam.
However, a total of 169 persons have died due to the virus, with 8 persons succumbing on Thursday, August 13.
