GUWAHATI: Several people have come forward and have donated to the Assam Arogya Nidhi Fund to help the state government in its battle to combat the spread of coronavirus in Assam.
The state government has collected a total of Rs 24.63 crores so far from 10,595 people/ organisations who have donated to the relief fund.
State health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared on twitter on April 7: “Every drop counts! Joyed at overwhelmingly generous support. My gratitude to 10,595 people who have contributed in Assam Arogya Nidhi to win the battle against #Covid_19. We've received a sum of Rs 24.63 cr so far. Request all to do their bit. #AssamCares”
It is to be mentioned that Sarma had said on April 6 while addressing a press conference that the funds collected in Arogya Nidhi would be utilised for the construction of new hospitals in the state.
“The government has completed the tender process for six new hospitals to be constructed in the state and has ordered L&T to build the same,” Sarma had mentioned.
