COVID-19: India Ranks 3rd, Surpasses Russia on List of Countries Worst Affected

GUWAHATI: The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India rose to 6,97,413 which has taken India up to the third spot in the list of countries worst affected by the virus. India has surpassed Russia and lies just below the US and Brazil on the list.

The country now has 2,53,287 active cases as per the latest data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

In Assam, with a sudden spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases, the tally has gone up to 11,736 as per state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s latest Twitter update. The state now has 4,286 active cases with 753 new cases identified in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra with 2,06,619 cases is still the worst-affected state by the disease, followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,11,151 cases. 

The tally of COVID-19 positive cases in the national capital stands at 99,444 with 3,067 deaths recorded in New Delhi and Gujarat has reported 36,037 positive cases of the virus so far.
