Counterfeit Currency Racket Busted In Guwahati’s Lalungaon, Fake Notes Worth ₹3 Lakh Recovered

 

GUWAHATI: A team from the Gorchuk Police Station, dismantled a counterfeit currency racket in Guwahati’s Lalungaon, on January 20. During the operation, the team seized 600 fake ₹500 notes, amounting to a face value of ₹3 lakh.

Two individuals, identified as Rejaul Islam (24) and Rajibul Islam (33), were apprehended for their involvement in the operation. Dubbed as "creative financiers," the duo was allegedly responsible for manufacturing and distributing the counterfeit currency.

Authorities have confirmed that legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
