GUWAHATI: Cotton University (CU) has announced that it will not entertain requests from students seeking admission to undergraduate courses through any means other than the CUET (UG) entrance exam, reports stated.
As per media reports, many students in the state have not applied for CUET (UG) due to a lack of awareness about this all-India entrance exam for undergraduate programs.
It may be mentioned that Cotton University and Bhattadev University are the only two state universities in Assam that have adopted CUET (UG). With over 30 departments, CU continues to be a highly sought-after institution for students from various education boards.
Quoting CU officials, the media has reported that despite not registering for CUET (UG), several candidates from state education boards have approached Cotton University seeking "localised admission."
Reacting to these requests, the CU administration has clarified that it will only consider students who have taken the CUET (UG) exam for enrolment.
Talking to G Plus, Sanjay Kr Dutta, Academic Registrar of Cotton University said, "We have given strict instructions about CUET examinations beforehand for Undergraduate students. For the Undergraduate courses, the admission will be strictly through CUET. We will be looking forward to getting the marks of CUET of the students".
