Coronavirus Scare: GoAir Suspends International Operations till April 15

GUWAHATI: In the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, international flight operator, GoAir has suspended all its international operations till April 15, 2020.

The order was issued as a response to the Centre's temporary ban on international passengers.

Travel to and from the following countries have been suspended by the Indian Government to prevent the spread of the pandemic - European Union (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden), European Free Trade Association (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland), Turkey and United Kingdom.

In a press note issued by GoAir, it has been informed that the aviation industry has been the most affected one after the government have issued travel advisories. While many individuals have curtailed their individual travel plans, business houses have also restricted the movement of their employees.

The airlines have initiated a short term rotational leave without pay program so that a cross section of the employees stay away from the workplace for a month and to counter short term reduction in capacity.

GoAir have also urged the Centre to provide immediate support.

Earlier a scheduled Go Air flight from Aizawl to Guwahati on 17th March was cancelled due to the same reason.
