It is alleged that the EMs and chairman have been still using official vehicles which is also a violation of MCC.

“It appears that the complaint has merit and the misuse of official machinery is a violation of MCC guidelines,” Assam Chief Electoral officer (CEO) said in the notice to Ronghang.

“Therefore you are hereby called upon to show cause in writing as to why appropriate action for violation of MCCshall not be taken against you,” the CEO said.

“In the event of no response from your side, before 5 pm of April 13 it will be resumed that you have nothing to say in this matter and this office will take necessary action in the matter without making any further reference to you,” the CEO added.

In his complaint, Timung alleged that Tuliram Ronghang in his poll campaign made poll promises in eight locations violating MCC.

“The videos of his speeches were uploaded by Ronghahg on the Facebook promising construction of roads, ration cards for every household, Orunodoi scheme for every individual, financial package to SHGs, free LPG connection along with the cylinder, medical assistance, boundary wall and free rice etc,” Timung said in his complaint.

Timung sought ECI to ban Tuliram Ronghang in the campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and declare his elected membership to the KAAC null and void.
