GuUWAHATI: In a measure to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus in Assam, the Gauhati High Court as well as its outlying benches in Kohima, Aizawl and Itanagar will be restricted to urgent matters only and has adjourned all other cases.
The Gauhati High Court issued a notification on March 15 which stated, “All the lawyers, litigants, members of the staff, security staff, etc shall be subject to medical screening before entry in the new as well as old High Court building.”
The High Court has also restricted entry of any foreign national in the court and office till further orders.
In another order, the High Court instructed that the registries of the outlying benches and the subordinate courts shall take necessary measures for procuring and using sanitizers in the offices.
“Entry of litigants and outsiders in court complex should be restricted as far as possible,” the order further stated.
