Coronavirus: New Dates Announced for Tokyo 2020 Olympics

GUWAHATI: The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which was postponed last week due to concerns around coronavirus pandemic have been rescheduled from July 23 to August 8, 2021.

The new schedule was agreed upon in a telephone conference between IOC President Thomas Bach, Tokyo 2020 President Mori Yoshiro and other officials, the IOC said in a statement.

It is to be mentioned that the Olympics were originally scheduled to take place between July 24 and August 9, 2020, however, Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) agreed to postpone the games owing to Coronavirus outbreak worldwide.
