Construction Of 11 Lakh Houses Under PMAY-G Completed, Claims Government

GUWAHATI: 11,63,471 PMAY- G (Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna- Gramin) affiliated houses have been established since the inception of the program, claimed Assam Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass.

During a press conference, the minister also stated that 18,30,400 houses have been sanctioned under the SECC (Socio-Economic and Caste Consensus) and the Awaas Plus survey.

Regarding this project, the state received a total of ₹14,540.84 crore last year, with ₹13,086.76 crore allocated as the central share and ₹1,454.08 crore as the state share. And as of this date, an expenditure of ₹12,504.79 crore has been incurred for this project.

To accommodate the landless PMAY G beneficiaries, the state has taken the initiative for allocating lands to construct a cluster of PMAY- G houses, and as of date, 26 clusters have been completed all across Assam which includes districts like Bongaigaon, Cacher, Charaideo, Dibrugarh, Dhubri, Golaghat, Lakhimpur, Hailakandi, Morigaon, Nagaon.  

The state has also allocated land to 40,096 landless PMAY- G beneficiaries under this scheme to date, said Dass.

In regards to the beneficiaries residing in the Tea garden areas, an SOP has been formulated where 81,638 people will be rewarded with PMAY-G houses.

In response to skill development programs and the demand for local masons, the minister has also said, for the construction of PMAY-G houses 3,405 local masons have been trained.
