GUWAHATI: Senior members of the state Congress have denied Elizabeth Colburn Gogoi as a replacement for her late father in law, Tarun Gogoi, in the upcoming 2021 Assam elections.

This comes amid news of Elizabeth Colburn Gogoi's speculated entry into politics.
Media has reported that MP Gaurav Gogoi's wife Elizabeth Gogoi will be contesting from the Titabor seat in the upcoming assembly elections.
Senior Congress leaders have also said that the candidate for the Titabor constituency will be chosen by the late politician's family.
However, denying all speculations for the moment, Congress spokespersons Bobbeeta Sharma and Rituparna Konwar both informed G Plus that no such decision is being made. "Elizabeth is not considering to join politics," added Rituparna Konwar.
