CM stresses to highlight indigenous cultural heritage

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday held meeting with the Chief Executive Members (CEMs) of six autonomous councils of the state at his chamber at Assam Legislative Assembly.

CEMs of Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council, Mishing Autonomous Council, Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council, Tiwa Autonomous Council and Deori Autonomous Council attended the meeting. 

During the meeting, Sonowal stressed on the need to take concrete steps to preserve the rich tribal culture and heritage and urged the CEMs of the autonomous councils to dedicatedly work towards highlighting the culture and folk traditions of the tribes they represent through concerted efforts. He also said that soon to be constructed ‘Sahodar Sammanway Kshetra’ near Rani at the city outskirts would also provide an integrated platform to showcase the vivid cultural resources of the tribal societies of the state to the visitors from outside the state and the country. Ekata Bhawan, which would be built at Sadiya, would also serve as a place for congregation and cultural exchanges between the tribes of the state, he informed. 

Sonowal also urged the autonomous councils to identify lands for inviting potential investors to their areas for setting up organic agricultural based industries and laid emphasis on the importance of making business proposals in tourism sectors for harnessing the immense inherent potential.

He said that in the aftermath of Advantage Assam: Global Investors’ Summit there is great buzz within the business community in the country and abroad for investing in Assam and the autonomous councils must take advantage of the this positive environment by opening up their places to these investors, he added.
