CM Sonowal pays tributes to Lachit Borphukan on the occasion of Lachit Divas

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal took part in the Lachit Divas celebration at the statue of Lachit Borphukan at Brahmaputra riverfront on 24 November. 

Sonowal offered floral tributes to legendary General Lachit Borphukan on the occasion of his birth anniversary at Jalukbari and Kachomari Ghat in Guwahati.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said, "Lachit Borphukan's was one of Assam's bravest sons. His courage, brilliance in war strategy and patriotism continue to inspire us."

On 24 November each year, Lachit Divas (Lachit Day) is celebrated statewide in Assam to commemorate the heroism of Lachit Borphukan and the victory of the Assamese army at the Battle of Saraighat. Lachit Divas is celebrated to promote the ideals of the fighter.
