Union Tourism Secretary, Rashmi Verma said that the state has tremendous tourism potential and that inter-regional and thematic tourism packages should be developed for the state.

The ITM was held with a view to promote tourism in Assam and the Northeast. “There is a huge scope for eco tourism and adventure tourism here,” she said.
Addressing the issue that tour operators usually do not include Northeast in their tour packages, Verma informed that the Indian Association of Tour Operators will conduct an intensive training programme for them to create awareness among the tour operator across India regarding the Northeast.

It was also decided during the ITM to increase the connectivity of the state in order to promote more foreign tourists to visit the region.
