The cleanup revealed a shocking amount of single-use plastic, highlighting the severe impact of improper waste disposal on the city's drainage system.
In response to the findings, the GMC is urging shopkeepers and the public to take responsibility for their waste.
Single-use plastic has numerous harmful effects on the environment. It threatens wildlife through entanglement and ingestion, contaminates waterways and soil with toxic chemicals like BPA, and causes waste management problems, climate change, and more.
