Class IX & X Students Set to Receive Free Uniforms

GUWAHATI: The state education department is set to distribute free uniforms for students of class IX and X of government schools.

An official circular of the department stated that for the first time, two sets of uniforms will be provided to class IX and X students from the state budget. Further, the cost of uniforms for classes I to VIII will be Rs 300 per set and for students of class IX and X, Rs 350 per set will be provided by the government.

“The requirement for students of class IX and class X will also be provided by the School Management Committees subject to rigorous quality checking at the level of school and at the level of district,” the circular stated.

The state finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had announced in the state budget speech that the state government will extend the existing free school uniform scheme till students of classes XII.
