City Police Holds Meet to Discuss Lockdown Protocol; Helpline for Senior Citizens Soon

GUWAHATI: The city police has resolved to set up measures for implementing the rules during the lockdown till April 20.

The decision was taken at a meeting held at the Madhavdev International Auditorium of Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra on 15th April. It was attended by the top Assam Police officials and the Officers-in-charge of all  the police stations.

Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, DGP, Assam Police, asked all officers to implement all orders strictly and informed that legal action will be taken  against the violators.

Seeking everyone's cooperation, he  mentioned that apart from the vehicles transporting essential commodities, no other vehicles are allowed to ply on the roads.

Further, all workers involved in the essential commodities services are to collect a permit from the State Disaster Management Authority or the police, apart from having an ID or  letter from their respective establishments.

Wearing of masks by the workers is mandatory.

Mahanta further informed that a new helpline number will be launched for the senior citizens. By calling this number, the elderly will be able to ask for any service such as buying medicine and other essentials. The police, apart from providing the same, will also facilitate necessary transport facilities in case of emergencies.

ADGP, Law and Order, GP Singh, who was present along with Police Commissioner, Munna Prasad Gupta and  others, asked the Officers-in-charge to ensure that citizens do not violate the COVID-19 protocol.
