GUWAHATI: Children as young as three-year-old were made to remove black-coloured clothing after they were denied entry at Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal’s event on Tuesday, January 29 in Biswanath.
There was heavy security deployed at the event and the personnel were seen denying entry for people who wore black clothes. People were made to remove black-colored clothing outside the entry gates.

This comes at a time when the state government recently banned the entry of people wearing anything black at the Janata Bhawan in Dispur. As per reports, restriction was apparently meant to rule out any chance of a protest at the Janata Bhawan.
The move to ban black clothes at Janata Bhawan was allegedly a result of black flags which were waved by the protestors against the BJP-led government’s move to pass the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016.
The bill seeks to amend the Citizenship Act 1955 by making minority communities namely Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan to become eligible for Indian citizenship.
