Chief Minister Sonowal presents Tirthanath Sarma Award

Noted Assamese litterateur and critic Dr Malini Goswami was presented with the Pandit Tirthanath Sarma-Nirmala Devi Memorial Award by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at a programme held at the District Library, Guwahati on Monday.

 

The award, instituted by the Pandit Tirthanath Sarma-Nirmala Devi Memorial Trust, carries a memorial, a citation, a gamosa and a cash reward of Rs 50,000. The award ceremony was organised by the Trust in association with Vivekananda Kendra.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal underlined the contributions of Dr Malini Goswami in the growth of Assamese literature and in the field of research. He expressed hope that the award would inspire her more to continue with her literary and creative pursuits unabated.


The programme was attended by a host of dignitaries including distinguished writer Dr Nagen Saikia, chairman of Vivekananda Kendra Assam region Deepak Kumar Borthakur, senior journalist Dhirendra Nath Chakravartty, MLA Rituparna Baruah, and retired Judge Mukundakam Sarma. Renowned scholar of Sanskrit literature Dr Ashok Kumar Goswami presided over the award presentation ceremony.
