GUWAHATI: As per reports, the central government is considering operating Air India flights to bring back Indians stranded abroad during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
The union government will be operating 64 flights of Air India and its subsidiary, Air India Express to repatriate Indians from 7th May to 13th May.
Indians stranded in 12 countries which include the UAE, UK, US, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman are to avail the benefit, informed officials.

As informed by civil aviation minister, Hardeep S Puri, of the 64 repatriation flights, 10 will fly from UAE, 2 from Qatar, 5 from Saudi Arabia, 7 from the UK, 5 from Singapore, 7 from the USA, 5 from Philippines, 7 from Bangladesh, 2 from Bahrain, 7 from Malaysia, 5 from Kuwait and 2 from Oman.
Around 15,000 people are to be benefitted. As per the union home ministry, only asymptomatic Indian nationals would be allowed to travel back to the country.
