Centre Disburses 1st Installment of Rs 386 Cr Towards State Disaster Relief Fund

GUWAHATI: The central government, in its first installment this year to the State Disaster Relief Fund, has released Rs 386 crores, said Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

He also laid emphasis on proper utilization of funds to provide relief to those affected adversely by the floods. 

Further, the minister directed the Inland Water Transport Department to take precautionary measures to prevent any mishaps during monsoons.

The chief minister also directed the Public Works Department to take steps to ensure immediate measures for areas facing problems due to erosion.

The ASDMA officials were also directed to disseminate information through advertisements in various media about the dos and don’ts during floods, lightning and bad weather.

Moreover, the chief minister also instructed the veterinary department to provide cattle feed to the domestic animals in the flood affected areas and food to the wild animals in flood affected wildlife sanctuaries.  

Officials of the water resources department were also ordered to go to the public and make them aware about delay in construction of embankments due to lockdown and heavy rainfall in the month of May.
